Architecture Development Sustainability
As an architect, developer and environmental advocate, my focus has always been delivery of low-carbon high positive-impact projects, exploring the intersection between good design, sustainability and social justice. I have worked at a senior level in a broad range of project markets demonstrating a high degree of technical, client, financial, and regulatory complexity. I thrive when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, with my skill set well matched for effective communication across a diverse group including designers, engineers, project partners, as well as City and State agencies.
I hold a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development from NYU and a Bachelor of Architecture. I have 4 years of experience in development, over 16 in design and construction, and am a NYS licensed architect. Additionally I spent close to 2 years as a research consultant in sustainable buildings and materials at RMIT University, and hold LEED AP and CPHC (Certified Passive House Consultant) qualifications.

Battery Park City Authority, Director of Design, Real Property, New York USA, full time, April 2019 - May 2021 www.bpca.ny.gov
The role of Director of Design encompassed a mix of design governance and project management. This included spearheading the largest resiliency redevelopment project in the district at the time, collaborating with the broader real property team on an updated sustainability plan and district-wide net-zero roadmap, construction management services, drafting RFPs for consultants and capital works, awarding contracts to successful applicants, and providing design and contract oversight.
Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), Senior Architect, New York USA, full time, May 2015 - Dec 2018, www.big.dk
Hired initially to lead the enclosure package for the highly experimental new Google Headquarters in California, this role evolved into that of project architect. Key responsibilities included technical design, design management, and team coordination across a large client stakeholder and AEC group. It also included close collaboration with CM teams to build prototypes for proof of concepts, necessitating fast turnaround and the delivery of phased early construction packages. I dedicated significant time to value engineering efforts due to tight budgets. Subsequently, I served as project architect/project manager for a new Net Zero Energy Environmental Education Center for the not-for-profit group Solar 1, guiding the project from concept through to the end of the DD phase. Additional tasks at BIG included participating in competition entries and RFP proposals, offering technical support across projects as needed, and establishing the NY office sustainability group.
Grimshaw Architects, Senior Architect / Associate, New York USA, full time, Jan 2008 - Aug 2010, Feb 2013 - May 2015 www.grimshaw-architects.com
I was with Grimshaw from 2008 to 2010, and then again from 2013 to 2015, for a total of 5 years. During this time, I worked in a wide variety of markets, including on institutional, commercial, transit, and education projects. Three of my primary projects were: the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority headquarters, on which I managed the facade package for one of the more complex enclosures designed by Grimshaw; the Croton Water Treatment Plant Above Grade Buildings and Landscape, for which I served as project architect for the hydrology and sustainability features, including CA coordination; and the Nexus Engineering Innovation Center for the University of Florida, where I worked as project architect through to SD. In addition to technical detailing, I was often involved in concept design and preparing RFPs for pursuing new work. During my tenure, I led the sustainability team, which focused on building knowledge and promoting sustainable design excellence across all projects.
Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Architect, Sydney Australia, full time, Nov 2011 - May 2012, www.rsh-p.com
I worked on short term contract for RSH-P while living in Sydney, Australia. I served as the lead senior architect for the podium design of three interconnecting 50-story commercial office towers in the new $5b Barangaroo district during the design development phase. This involved extensive design, planning and technical development, as well as significant interface with the client, developer Lendlease.
CookFox Architects, Architect, New York USA, full time, Sept 2010 - Oct 2011, www.cookplusfox.com
With a primary focus on residential projects, key tasks included leading the enclosure design on a deep energy retrofit to an 18,000sf off the grid single family home in upstate NY, and facade studies and space planning on the Citi Point multifamily towers in downtown Brooklyn.
RMIT University Centre for Design, Research consultant sustainable built environments and materials, Melbourne Australia, full time, June 2006 - Dec 2007 (now part of RMIT Center for Urban Research) www.cur.org.au
The Center provided applied and academic research in sustainable buildings and materials catering to both public and private sector clients. My lead roles included development of a decision support tool for developing indigenous housing and community planning, undertaking life cycle analysis on materials, and desktop literature reviews of building rating systems and ecolabels. I was also the project lead for content development and execution of an annual green building and design conference series.
DesignInc Melbourne, Architect, Melbourne Australia, full time, Jan 2001- June 2006, www.designinc.com.au
Building typologies worked on at DesignInc include affordable and market rate housing, educational, commercial and master planning projects. With a strong focus on deep sustainability, my flagship project from design competition to construction completion was the 96 unit K2 affordable housing project. Strategies surrounding best practice passive design, low carbon and healthy materials and on site water and renewals were prevalent in all projects.
