Frost Museum of Science (formerly Miami Science Museum)

The vision for the Frost Museum of Science is a direct response to Miami’s location, resources, and challenges, and intended to inspire visitors of all ages and backgrounds to explore and enjoy science and technology, and the world in which we live. It is anchored by an Aquarium and Wildlife Center (together known as the Living Core), a 300-seat Planetarium, and an Energy Center. The museums most compelling exhibit is the building itself, representing a striking balance of aesthetics and energy efficient design. Solar, wind and water collectors and the building’s green roof are visible from afar, signaling the museum’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Inverting the circulation to the exterior and carefully designing the massing to support natural ventilation minimizes the cooling load while keeping visitors comfortable.
